Newcomer Brian Neville runs for Issaquah School Board

An accountant by trade, Neville said he grew up in Issaquah and earned his advanced degree at the University of Washington.
“I’m deeply connected to the community,” he said.
Neville spent five years on the volunteer board of the Seattle-based non-profit Community for Youth. The group’s aim is to help struggling or at-risk high school students. Neville he hopes to continue his service to young people but wanted to find an opportunity on the Eastside. That was when he decided to try for the local school board. Read more
Suzanne Weaver wants another term on Issaquah School Board

During her four years on the job, Issaquah school board member and Sammamish resident Suzanne Weaver said that board has done a worthy job of keeping its focus on student achievement and success.
“It’s work that I enjoy and I want to continue doing it,” Weaver said of serving on the board.

The forum is meant to offer voters a chance to learn about local candidates as the clock ticks down to Election Day. King County Elections is due to mail ballots to voters in late October. The forum starts at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the King County Library Service Center. Read more

Issaquah School Board delays bond, changes project line-up

Voters in the Issaquah School District will have to wait a bit longer to make their feelings known on a proposed bond.
The board voted to adjust the projects on the $219 million bond and delay its appearance on the ballot from February to April. Read more

Issaquah schools adopt budget

On the last day allowed by state law, the Issaquah School Board on Aug. 31 passed its 2011-2012 budget.
The overall plan includes expenditures of $287.7 million, including general fund spending of $161.5 million, according to district Chief of Finance and Operations Jake Kuper.
As with most governmental budgets, the general fund pays for the day-to-day operations of the district and includes items like class materials and salaries. Read more
Issaquah Schools to study schedules for high schools

Issaquah district officials may be moving toward establishing a common schedule for at least three of the district’s four high schools.
Among other factors, the move would allow the schools to take better advantage of their resources and pool certain professional development activities, according to district Superintendent Steve Rasmussen. Read more

The Issaquah School Board has agreed to put a bond before voters Feb. 14.
