Eastside Catholic football tops Bainbridge 27-24

The Eastside Catholic Crusaders outlasted Bainbridge in the school’s final regular season game before league playoffs.

Eastside got out to a slow start, but managed to score in each quarter to win 27-24.

Skyline, Eastlake football win Eastside falls short

The race for the KingCo 4A football title is on and Eastlake and Skyline are both in the hunt after coming up with dominating week-six wins Oct. 7. The Eastside Catholic Crusaders impressed fans at home, nearly pulling off an upset against O’Dea.

Eastlake running back Ryan Lewis carried the ball 15 times for 201 yards against Roosevelt.

The game officials made Eastlake players and fans well aware that they supported prostate cancer research Sept. 13. The refs made good use of the special blue flags for the occasion — in place of the traditional yellow ones — as the Eastlake Wolves and Roosevelt Roughriders combined for 21 separate penalties in the contest at Eastlake High School stadium. New coach hopes to rev up Eastside Catholic football

Implementing your own system into a football program as a first-year coach takes time. But new Eastside Catholic High School head coach Jeremy Thielbahr couldn’t be more energized about the 2011 football season.

The former University of Idaho running backs coach has been on the job in Sammamish for a few months, and he seems to be making headway among a team that looks eager to get back to contention for the playoffs. Read more

Eastlake, Skyline rout week-six opponents, EC stumbles at O’Dea

Week six of high school football on the plateau was full of big plays and big numbers for Sammamish teams. Both Eastlake and Skyline improved to 5-1 on the season Oct. 8. Eastside Catholic put up a good showing against O’Dea, but fell to 4-2 overall, 1-2 league.

Eastside Catholic football rolls to 2-0

The Eastside Catholic Crusaders football team improved to 2-0 on the season after routing Sultan 45-0 Sept. 10 in Sultan. Eastside Catholic scored twice in the first quarter. They struck first on a 51-yard pass from Trey Reynolds to Matt Callans. Reynolds hit receiver Chevy Walker for an 81-yard touchdown bomb with 5:22 left in the first. Read more

The fact that Skyline sophomore quarterback Max Browne has some big shoes to fill might be a gross understatement. But he and his teammates aren’t letting the fact that three-time state champ Jake Heaps isn’t here to lead the team to another title get to them.
And even though Skyline lost a handful of its core varsity squad to graduation, Browne and the Spartans carried over their energy from the 2009 championship season with the same goal in mind — make it to the Tacoma Dome.
