Aug. 31, 1921 – March 17, 2012

Bonnie grew up in Moscow and Lewiston, Idaho, the daughter of Walter and Essie Harris.

Bonnie Rose Dunham

While attending the University of Idaho, she met the love of her life, Bill Dunham from Nezperce, Idaho.

She went on to Nurse’s Training at St. Luke’s Hospital in Spokane and Bill went to the South Pacific as a fighter pilot. They married towards the end of the war and had an exciting, 30-year career in the Air Force.

She lost Bill in 1990 to cancer while they were living at Providence Point in Issaquah. Bonnie was very active and healthy until she was 90 — traveling, volunteering, helping others and adoring her eight great grandchildren who knew her so affectionately as “Snookie.”

She and Bill had two daughters, Margo Prudente, married to Preston, of Sammamish and Shelly Wheeler, of Olympia. Grandchildren include Tena Prudente, of Sammamish; Shane Prudente, of Walla Walla; Kira Aker, of Olympia and Aram Wheeler, of Olympia. Bonnie has three siblings — Vernon Harris, of Orem, Utah; Walt Harris and Maybelle Mays, both of Boise, Idaho.

What a blessing to know she is with her Lord. Heaven is an even sweeter place since she arrived. The ministry of Young Life was most dear to her heart so, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Walla Walla office of Young Life where her grandson, Shane, serves as Area Director: Young Life, PO Box 2525, Walla Walla, WA 99362.

Join the family for a celebration of her life at 2:30 p.m. April 21 at Bellewood Retirement Apartments where Bonnie lived her last six years. It is located at 3710 Providence Point Dr SE, Issaquah Wa 98029.

George Darmon Davis, of Issaquah, died March 9 at Swedish Hospital after a lingering illness.

The first son of Oliver and Marie Davis, he was born Dec. 14, 1928, in the mining town of McCurtain, Okla.

George’s family moved to Tulsa shortly after his birth. He graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1947.

George Darmon Davis

With encouragement from teachers, he enrolled at the University of Tulsa, becoming the first person in his family to attend college, where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biological sciences.

At the University of Tulsa, George met Margaret Morris, his wife-to-be.

Through-out his life George was committed to education, family and learning. During college, he worked full time at the Douglas Aircraft Co. as a radar and bombardier specialist, making intercontinental test flights.

In 1951 and 1957 he and Margaret had two children George Jr. and Dana, respectively.

George continued his graduate education at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, Miss., and taught biology and chemistry at local colleges.

In 1963, his young family moved to Memphis, where he headed the Physics Department at Memphis College of Optometry.

After moving to Seattle in 1965, he joined The Boeing Co., where he became unit chief in service engineering.

He also attended the University of Washington, where he lectured in physical anthropology, often to standing-room-only halls. In the early 1970s, George joined the faculty of the Department of Biology at Seattle University.

For years his office was a meeting place for students, many who are now practicing professionals in medical and health care fields. His students fondly remember his openness and humor.

After retiring he still studied, even earning a medical technology degree.

He continued to share his passion for learning, finding joy in informally lecturing at the dinner table or to an acquaintance at church, the supermarket or at the many museums he frequented with his grandson.

George is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret; their son George Darmon Junior and daughter-in-law Patricia Davis, of Bellevue; daughter Dana Davis Rehm and her husband Robert Rehm, of Bethesda, Md.; grandchildren Colin Davis Rehm, of Seattle, and Amelia Marie Davis Rehm, of Bethesda, Md.; brother Gene Donald Davis and sister-in-law Joann Davis, of Tulsa, Okla.; Monte Garrett and Eddi Gambotto, nephew and niece-in-laws; and many caring friends.

His life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. April 14 at East Shore Unitarian Church in Bellevue, with a potluck luncheon following the service.
