Sammamish Community Center progresses

Construction on the new Sammamish Community Center could begin as soon as June 12, City Manager Ben Yazici said at the June 3 City Council meeting.
The council approved hiring Porter Brothers Construction, pending a reference check. The check came back with positive results, Yazici said.
The total projected cost for the community center has gone up a bit since the last council meeting, owing to additional contingency funds being set aside. The projected cost of $33.88 million (up from $32.49 million) is still less than the $34.5 million budgeted for the center. However, it’s more than the $30 million approved by residents in a 2012 advisory vote.
The community center is likely to be open in early 2016.
