Someone caused an estimated $15,000-$20,000 in damages to the restrooms at Pine Lake Park, City Manager Ben Yazici told the Sammamish City Council March 4.

Police responded to the park just after 6 a.m. March 2, Police Chief Nate Elledge said.

Upon arrival, they found extensive graffiti containing political and anti-religious messages.

The paint was on the interior and exterior walls and some other signs in the park.

Yazici told the council the damage was so severe the city will need to bring in outside help to clean it all.

“This was the worst one I have ever seen in our 14 years of existence,” he said.

Councilwoman Nancy Whitten raised the possibility of installing security cameras at the restrooms so they city might be better able to catch vandals in the future.

The restrooms were re-opened March 5.

Police are asking anyone who has information to call them at 425-295-0770.
