Open houses explain project coming to Lake Sammamish Trail
March 11, 2014
King County Parks is hosting a series of four open houses about plans for the design and improvements to the East Lake Sammamish Trail.
The trail runs along the west side of Lake Sammamish from Marymoor Park to Lake Sammamish State Park.
The improvement plan includes a 12-foot wide paved trail with 2-foot soft surface shoulders on each side.
The plan also includes three parking lots, one at Northeast 70th Street in Redmond, one at Inglewood Hill Road in Sammamish, and the third at Southeast 33rd Street in Sammamish.
The open house will discuss the North Sammamish segment, which runs from 187th Avenue Northeast to Inglewood Hill Road. King County Parks expects that 2.6-mile stretch to cost $6.8 million and begin construction this year.
Residents will also have a chance to comment on the South Sammamish segment –from Inglewood Hill Road to Southeast 33rd Street, and then another phase reaching from there to Lake Sammamish State Park – while it’s early in the design phase.
Each of the open houses will focus on a specific neighborhood. All meetings are from 5-7 p.m.
