Election 2013 Candidate Workshops Offered

Voters will decide important races this fall that will shape the future of the city of Sammamish.
Before the campaign season starts, voters interested in running for public office can learn what it takes to be candidate.
King County Elections is hosting two complimentary, two-hour 2013 Candidate Workshops to discuss important information about filing for various offices.
The workshops are open to members of the public, candidates, campaign managers, treasurers and staff. The program covers the following topics:
- Filing for office in King County
- Submitting local voter’s pamphlet information
- Voter lists and data management
- Campaign sign regulations
- Basic public disclosure information
The classes will be from 2-4 p.m. April 25, and from 10 a.m.-noon on April 27, at King County Elections, 919 S.W. Grady Way, Renton.
Those who plan to attend must RSVP via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. The workshops will be cancelled if enrollment is low.
The period for candidates to file in-person and online lasts from May 13-17.
In Sammamish, the City Council seats of Councilmen Don Gerend, John James, Tom Odell and John Curley will be up for election. Curley has declared he does not intend to run for re-election.
