New: March 10, 2:42 p.m.

Sammamish’s Annual Volunteer Recognition Celebration, also known as the SAMMI’s is March 15 at Eastridge Church.

The event kicks off at 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Short for Sammamish Acknowledging Magnificent Moments of Inspiration, the SAMMI Awards Foundation recognizes volunteers for work in several different categories, including Circle of Service, Community Spirit, Courage, Environmental Stewardship and Youth Spirit.

This year the foundation announced it is moving from a “competition-based” event to an expansive recognition event. All those nominated to be a “SAMMI” within a category will be recognized at the event and a surprise cross section of SAMMI nominee stories will be shared during the evening production.
