More than $22,000 worth of jewelry was stolen in an early-morning burglary at Plateau Jewelers Oct. 26.
Police responded to a burglary alarm at the store at 3:30 a.m. and found the glass door to the store broken and a cabinet full of jewelry missing. Canine units were called to search the area for suspects, but to no avail.
Police reviewed surveillance video that showed a dark-colored minivan, station wagon or SUV back up to the store. A male suspect then got out of the vehicle and broke the door with a hammer. The man immediately went for the cabinet, ripped it off mounted brackets and loaded it into the back of the vehicle. The vehicle, which was being driven by a second suspect, then left the scene towards 228th Avenue.
The suspect is described as a white male, about 6-feet tall and 200 pounds, wearing a baseball hat, sunglasses and a bandana around his neck, with a black hoodie sweatshirt and blue jeans.
The owners of the store provided police with an itemized list of the 334 pieces of jewelry that were stolen. Police dusted for prints but were unable to find any since the suspect was wearing gloves.
A manager at Plateau Jewelers declined to comment on the crime. The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Sammamish Police at 425-295-0770.
