More than 11 tons of food will be headed to local food banks thanks to Sammamish’s annual month-long food drive.

The Mayor’s Month of Concern event netted 22,868 pounds of food that will go to needy families at the ARAS Foundation Harvest Festival, Nov. 17 in Bellevue, and at the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank. City employees, elected officials and community members collected food at Safeway and QFC through mid-October.

In a press release, ARAS Community Service Director Mary Trask thanked the support of local businesses and community leaders.
