Eastlake even gave Skyline some early motivation by scoring first on a Kyle Lappano 60-yard touchdown run on the second play of the game.

And even though Lappano obliterated Eastlake’s single-game rushing record (set by Cameron Hunt in 2009), the Skyline Spartans wound up on top in a 36-22 win at Spartan Stadium. Skyline (7-1 overall, 4-0 KingCo Crest) will host Bothell Oct. 29. Read more

EFR to charge for ambulance rides

October 20, 2010

New: Oct. 20, 2:25 p.m.
The days of free ambulance rides are in the past.
At their Oct. 14 meeting, the Eastside Fire & Rescue Board of Directors approved charging a $650 fee for transport to hospitals – roughly the same rate charged by private ambulance service American Medical Response.
The proposal is expected to bring in between $298,000 and $418,000 a year, partially negating the need for the agency to raise the annual contribution of its members.
As of now, it’s often a toss-up whether a patient with a non-emergency injury who needs to be transported to a hospital goes with an EFR unit for free or is charged close to $700 to go with the private service. Read more
