Sunny Hills students showed off their writing skills to their parents and teachers May 6 in the school’s gym. The event was part of the annual Young Authors celebration, which features student work and professional guest speakers, according to lead organizer Sara Pietraszewski, a Sunny Hills Teacher.
Leading up to the celebration night, the school hosted various professional writers, such as Paul Owen Lewis, an award winning author from Lummi Island. The PTA provided a chance for him and others to spend a day at the school, conducting a school assembly and workshops with students. In addition, author and illustrator Keith Baker visited to work with the students, Pietraszewski said.
