Despite having an influx of new members, the city’s land-use advisory board decided to nominate veterans to its leadership positions for 2010.

Tom Vance, who served as the Planning Commission’s chairman in 2009 and early 2010, will assume the mantle again. He has been on the commission since 2008.

Stan Bump, who joined the commission at the same time as Vance, will become its vice chairman.

The Planning Commission, which has seven members, delivers recommendations to the City Council on land-use issues. The commission takes the first crack at tackling some of the city’s most controversial topics, such as Town Center policies and code, shoreline building policies and code and height restrictions on cell phone towers.

In January, the council selected three new members for the commission: Kathy Richardson, Joe Lipinsky and Jeff Wasserman.

Vance said he and Bump would serve as chairman and vice chairman through 2010, with a nomination process scheduled for November or December. Both he and Bump are serving three-year terms that expire at the end of the year.
