City to count traffic at 38 locations

The City Council opted to spend up to $12,000 to figure out just how bad traffic is. At its Feb. 16 meeting, the council hired Trafficount, an Olympia-based contractor, to perform traffic counts at 18 intersections in the morning and afternoon rush hours and to conduct average daily traffic counts at 38 locations.
Among the locations are three intersections on East Lake Sammamish Parkway, three on 228th Avenue and three on 244th Avenue. Read more

When the New Orleans Saints opened the second half of the Super Bowl with an onside kick, Marcus Ungaro knew it was coming. They had practiced it for two weeks and he had captured every play on video.

Alcott youth, parents sort clothes for the needy

When they could have been out playing or gardening on a sunny Saturday, dozens of Alcott Elementary fourth- through sixth-graders and their parents chose to help fold and sort clothes.

State Legislature may discuss some levy lid changes

The Washington state Legislature is working on two bills that could either raise or lower local levy lids, changing the amount a school district could tax voters.
The first bill, introduced by Sen. Joe Zarelli, R-Ridgefield, and co-sponsored by state Sen. Cheryl Pflug, R-Maple Valley, would revamp the way the state funds public K-12 education. Read more
