Travis Mills picked for Youth All-American Bowl

Sammamish eighth-grader Travis Mills is headed to play in the second annual Football University Youth All-American Bowl, according to a SportsLink press release. Mills will play in the game Jan. 10, 2010 in San Antonio, Texas. Mills was chosen from thousands of youth stars, according to SportsLink. The event is modeled after the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and honors the top 88 seventh- and eighth-graders around the nation, the press release said. The game will be broadcast live on the Web. During the week leading up to the Youth All-American Bowl, Mills will participate in various practices and skills competitions and break-out sessions with Hall-of-Famers, current and former NFL players and high school coach Herman Boone, according to the release. To contend for a spot on the team, players had to submit a nomination form and highlight tape, the release said. Mills also passed through an interview to make the team. Mills, along with the rest of the youth players selected, will be featured in an issue of Sports Illustrated for Kids, the release said.
