Fill the boot on Friday

July 17 kicks off the Eastside Fire and Rescue’s annual Fill-the-Boot
fundraiser to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). From 2-6
p.m., off duty EFR firefighters will be at the intersection of Northeast
Eighth Street and 228th Avenue Northeast collecting donations.Last year, EFR earned third in the state for funds raised with $30,000 in
just two days.
Craig Hooper, president of the local firefighters union, hopes they will
raise as much this year.
“It’s tough with the economy as it is. We hope everyone still helps out,”
Hooper said. “We’re looking forward to the community involvement.”
Eastside Fire and Rescue will hold another Fill-the-Boot fundraiser on
Sept. 11.
