Skyline football back on ESPN

The Skyline Spartans football team has scheduled two top-tier out-of-state opponents to play as part of its 2009 non-conference football schedule, according to a press release from the school’s athletic department.

The Issaquah Senior Silver lacrosse team beat the Maple Valley Senior Blue 8-5 March 28. Cannon Gardner led the team with four goals, two assists and three ground balls. Ryan Benz finished the game with three goals, one assist and four ground balls and Nick Mauzy had two goals for the Silver.

Indecisive water district cedes appointment to county council

In five months, the Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District has been unable to fill a vacancy on its board of commissioners. After much debate and two failed votes, the commission is likely to miss its chance to make the appointment, passing off the responsibility to the King County Council. Read more

A policy war over who gets the bigger chunk of future bus service has broken out in King County.
Sammamish City Councilwoman Kathy Huckabay wants to make sure the Eastside doesn’t get the short end of the stick. As Sammamish’s representative on the Suburban Cities Association, she took part in a February letter to the Municipal League of King County that disputed the league’s report on new bus service from King County Metro Transit.
Smart Car smart investment for local businessman

Shortly after Roland Fink purchased his Smart Car in early 2008, he attended a realtors’ gathering at a luxury home in Bellevue.
Fink, a Sammamish resident, parked his tiny car among Ferraris and other fancy vehicles. But, when he went to leave, his miniature, futuristic-looking car garnered an ecstatic reaction from some of the children at the event. Read more
Author hopes to inspire to end homelessness

Seattle-area author and mental health chaplain Craig Rennebohm has worked with the homeless in the region since 1997. He began working with gangs in Chicago in 1968, and has since cared for people in their darkest moments of isolation and desperation. The former pastor has helped countless families and individuals, primarily those with mental illness, find a path to recovery, healing and employment. He has also worked to train and equip local churches to do the same. Read more

Lee Fellinge won’t run for re-election

City Councilman Lee Fellinge has announced that he will not run for re-election in November.
Fellinge said that he and his wife wanted to travel more and have more time to spend together.
