Any women out there who want to start a business or take their business to the next level, should make room on their calendars this weekend. On March 22, the Sammamish Chamber of Commerce is holding its first ever “Celebrating Women in Business” seminar from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. at the Plateau Club in Sammamish.

The event will feature an interactive panel discussion and goal-setting time with area leaders in business, as well as words from keynote speaker Susan Scott, founder of Fierce, Inc., a leadership development firm in Bellevue.

“Whether they’re starting their own business or even work for a business, something magical happens when women come together towards a common goal,” said Deb Sogge, executive director of the Sammamish Chamber of Commerce. “They will walk away empowered and inspired, guaranteed.”

Scott’s keynote address will cover the topic “fierce conversations,” which focuses on achieving success in all aspects of life one conversation at a time, Scott said.

“In our careers and companies and relationships and lives, we succeed or fail one conversation at time,” Scott said.

The speech will cover many of the ideas from her recent book, “Fierce Conversations.”

“This is not a course about communication, this is a focus on one conversation,” Scott said. “I want to set the bar very high for all their conversations…in their personal and their professional lives going forward.”

Panelists at Celebrating Women in Business include Jana Williams, of Edward Jones, Inc., Nancy Juetten, of Main Street Media Savvy, Tammy Redmon, of Redmon and Associates, and Samira Badshah, of Cascade Bank. Organizational development consultant Anh Vo will put on a workshop at the event, as well.

The event will also have gifts, a raffle and refreshments, according to a press release. It will also help support the YWCA Working Wardrobe program, which is collecting gently used purses. Seattle Chocolates will provide goodies to all participants, Sogge said.

Tickets cost $25 and are available at www.sammamishchamber.org or by contacting info@sammamishchamber.org.

The Plateau Club is located at 25625 E. Plateau Dr. in Sammamish.
