Drive courteously

Please remind your children that other drivers, regardless of their age or sex, have rights as well, and that driving is a privilege, not a right. If I caught my son driving like the teenage boy who refused to let me merge on Sahalee Way (he was behind me at the light, but obviously felt that I wasn’t accelerating fast enough, since I chose not to race out of the light, so cut over early then would not give me room to merge), I’d take away the car keys and introduce him to the “loser limo,” as one teenage acquaintance calls the bus.  “We’ll have all that space soon,” she said.

Anderson acquired a $30,000 grant from the Washington State Archives in Olympia to keep permanent microfiche records of all city ordinances, resolutions, meeting minutes, financial documents and building permits from 1999-2004, a time frame covering the beginning of Sammamish’s history. The documents themselves will be sent to be stored in Olympia, Anderson said. Read more

Longtime Sammamish resident and owner of Museo Art Academy and Gallery Marci Knutsen is closely connected with the plateau community. Her studio and gallery provide an artistic outlet in the midst of waning arts elective offerings in area schools and provides local residents with a creative outlet.

Dozens of students come to Museo to learn to draw, paint or to buy supplies, but soon they’ll be driving a little bit farther to do that.

Citing high rent costs in a lean economy, as well as a desire to focus her resources on art instruction, Knutsen said the business will move to downtown Issaquah on March 28. Read more
