Residents hear plans for Sammamish Landing

Kate Poaster, a resident of Southeast 8th Street, launches her kayak from Marymoor Park twice a week to photograph local bald eagles.
As it turns out, nesting ground for two adult bald eagles coincides with the location for the future Sammamish Landing Park, a 3,000-foot strip of shoreline property on the north end of the lake.
Wildlife habitat could be disturbed if Sammamish Landing is mishandled. So Poaster attended the Nov. 19 meeting at City Hall, to make sure city planners knew what was at stake. Read more

City of Sammamish and Issaquah schools want better communication

Sammamish Library groundbreaking. Come to the groundbreaking for the new library at 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Sammamish Commons.
Early childhood seminar. The Bear Creek school is hosting a free seminar about early childhood education. The seminar has three sessions which will cover issues like understanding personality, brain research, nubers, play, building responsibility, reading and more. 9 a.m.-noon Dec. 6 at the school, 8905 208th Ave. NE, Redmond. Faith in Action would like to help seniors put up their holiday decorations. People who are 60 and older and would like help should call 391-2817.
Northwest sound, a singing group including some Sammamish residents, will present “A Northwest Christmas, featuring special guest, BlueStreet Jazz Voices. The concert is set for 3 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. Tickets cost $22 for general seating, $18 for senior citizens and $10 for children under 12. Parkway must stop
Who in the city of Sammamish is benefiting by forcing through the East Lake Sammamish Parkway? A project that citizens have not only protested but brought evidence to bear that it is ill conceived.
Is it the City Council? Or is it the City Manager Ben Yazici? At the open house Michael O’Connell said, “This meeting is a sham. Your input has no bearing.” Read more
