The Skyline volleyball team had a tough match Thursday against long-time powerhouse Bothell.
The Spartans, now 5-4 overall, dropped their fourth game of the season in a 3-0 loss to the Cougars at Bothell.
“It was a tough match for us,” said Skyline head coach Mark Peterson. “Bothell played extremely well. Their defense was very, very good.“
The Cougars defeated the Spartans 25-16, 25-21 and 25-19.
Peterson said the team has faired well among the new competition since moving up from 3A last year. The girls are finally starting to mesh, but a few kinks have yet to be worked out with the playoffs in sight.
“We’re getting better and finally starting to click as team,” he said. “All the girls are starting to work together.”
The loss was a combination of Bothell’s impenetrable defense and Skyline’s poor passing effort Thursday.
“A couple didn’t pass well (Thursday) night and we’re looking to get some consistency from the setting position,” Peterson said.
The young team is still working on becoming more well-rounded, with better communication on the court, he said.
Alex Petroff made six kills and 12 digs for Skyline and Lindsay Kim contributed six kills and 11 digs.
