The Chris Elliot Memorial golf tournament is scheduled for Oct. 3. The Chris Elliott fund, run by Sammamish resident Dellann Elliott, helps fund research in Glioblastoma, a kind of brain cancer. Chris Elliott died from the cancer in 2002. The event will also raise money for the Jimmy Fund Golf program, which benefits the Massachusetts-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Organizers hope to have more than 100 golfers and 300 dinner guests who will raise more than $50,000.
The golf tournament is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start and dinner for 6 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Golf Club at Newcastle. To register, visit www.chriselliottfund.org.
Nightmare at Beaver Lake volunteer orientation begins. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Meetings are scheduled for 10-11 a.m. Oct. 18 at Beaver Lake Lodge.
The Northwest Biodiesel Network is hoping to establish monthly meetings on the Eastside to promote the use of biodiesel fuels. The group’s kick-off meeting is set for 7-9 p.m. Oct. 6 at The Railroad Depot in North Bend. Visit www.nebiodiesel.org.
The Sammamish Kiwanis annual ski and sport swap is when residents can trade in sporting equipment for new gear, particularly for children who have outgrown last year’s sizes. This year’s swap is scheduled for 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 11 at Pine Lake Covenant Church. People can bring in the equipment to drop off for a swap or donation from 6:30-8 p.m. Oct. 10 or starting at 8 a.m. Oct. 11.
Actor Edward James Olmos will be the keynote speaker at Hopelink’s annual fundraising luncheon. Hopelink does not charge a fee to attend, but asks guests to donate. The luncheon is scheduled from noon-1:15 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. Visit www.hope-link.org.

Parenting With Love & Logic a seven-week course, is being offered at Faith United Methodist Church. Sandy Klein of Pine Lake Covenant Church will be facilitating this course that hopes to help parents and children (toddlers to teens) establish a rewarding relationship built upon love and trust.

Eastside Precision Drill Team is seeking new members. The non dance drill team practices weekly on Tuesdays from 6–7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Redmond Junior High.

Volunteers needed
The King County Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program needs certified long term care ombudsman volunteers.
After completing a four-day training program, visit with residents, take and resolve complaints and advocate for residents.
