City Councilman Mark Cross, a recent convert to public transit, said Sammamish needs more bus service.

As of Sept. 22, King County Metro expanded service on the bus 269 from two to three times per hour. The 269 bus runs from 6-9 a.m. and 3:30-7 p.m., traveling between the Issaquah park-and-ride and the Overlake park-and-ride in Redmond, crossing Sammamish along the way.

The cities of Issaquah, Redmond and Sammamish partnered with Microsoft to pay for the expanded service.

At the Sept. 16 City Council meeting, Mayor Lee Fellinge said more service is needed on the plateau.

“There’s a six-hour gap in the middle of the day. The bus option is not really an option,” he said.

Cross said he changed his commuting pattern a few months ago, driving to Redmond and taking the bus to Bellevue.

He said the council would approach Metro to see if a bus could run during the middle of the day as well.
